Fund members can receive a grant of up to ISK 25,000 for engaging in physical activity and participating in sports.
Cancer screening
Fund members are entitled to a grant of up to ISK 20,000 for cancer screening and risk assessment of heart disease.
Physical and mental treatment
Fund members can receive a maximum grant of ISK 75,000 for treatment by certified healthcare professionals and with parties that meet the requirements for admission to a member association within BHM.
Hearing aids
An 80% reimbursement is provided for the purchase of hearing aids over a 36-month period. The maximum grant available is ISK 145,000.
Death benefits
Upon the death of a Fund member, death benefits of up to ISK 350,000 are paid.
Maternity or paternity grant
Fund members are granted ISK 100,000 for the birth of each child.
In vitro fertilisation treatment
Fund members are eligible to receive a maximum grant of ISK 125,000 for in vitro fertilization treatments.
Work related trauma or unexpected employment termination
Fund members are eligible for a maximum grant of ISK 55,000 to undergo treatment for work-related trauma.
Adoption
Fund members can receive a maximum grant of ISK 170,000 for adoption expenses.
Sickness benefits
Sickness benefits are provided to fund members during unpaid absence from work, equivalent to 80% of basic payments earned in the last 4 months before being unable to work.
Pregnancy benefit
Expecting mothers who need to stop working during their pregnancy due to illness must check their right to an extended parental leave with the Maternity/Paternity Leave Fund before any rights to a sickness per diem allowance are possible. If the right to an extension of parental leave is present, expecting mothers are entitled to the payment of a temporary pregnancy benefit to counter the loss of income up to the birth of the baby.
